There are few people lucky enough to have a relationship with their dad like my sweet friend Katie does, and even fewer who carry that closeness into adulthood. If you can picture your best friend, your confidant, your roomie, and your biggest supporter wrapped into one, that’s what Jim Kattau is for Katie. From dinner dates and concerts to scheduled tv shows they watch together, you honestly can’t find a closer pair. They have the daddy daughter relationship that they make movies about.
It breaks my heart to share that on June 21st, 2020, (yes, Father’s Day) Mr. Kattau had an unexpected stroke and is now in a coma in the ICU. He has had two unsuccessful brain surgeries to fix a vessel abnormality that was discovered during his immediate post-stroke care. It is uncertain what will happen in the coming days.
I made this page in hopes of alleviating the monetary strain that comes with tragedies when all you want is to focus on the one you love. Katie is only 22 but is one of the hardest working people you will ever meet. She works full time at a dialysis clinic and is also taking four classes this summer. While she is on leave of absence from work she is not getting paid, and has the responsibility of her dad’s home and bills coinciding with her newfound lack of income. If anyone can help support her so she can wholeheartedly focus on her dad in this time, that’s what this page is for.
We are praying every day for good news. I know it would mean more than anything to Jim that his baby girl is looked after. Thank-you for anything at all that you can give. Let’s keep Kattau strong.
