Keep KAT's Family Moving Forward

Soooo here I go. For those of you who are unaware, my family and I have been homeless now for essentially two years. There have been many obstacles on my journey to change these circumstances for us. I spent the summer alone and sleeping in my car that didn't run while working to save money and applying to various housing resources. Recently, by the grace of God and the beautiful people He has put in my life to help me, I have managed to acquire a vehicle and a perfect place for my kids and me to call home. This tremendous blessing has been given to us much earlier than I could have ever anticipated, and I therefore do not have any money in savings. The opportunity to have my children and be approved for a permanent residence was a chance that could not be passed up, and I calculated the coming expenses and determined them to be manageable... that is if nothing changed or went wrong.

Well, as life usually goes, something went wrong. I am a home caregiver, and my client wound up in the hospital for an entire week immediately preceding the signing of my lease. That left me with no pay for an entire week. I am $400 behind in rent for this month and I was supposed to pay with my check from this Friday. Then the company I work for did not deposit my check! Something to do with the insurance company, but regardless, here I am without a cent to my name.

I have called all rental assistance charities, including the county, and no one has funding. I don't have anyone to borrow from, and my credit is basically shot due to past hard times. The measures I've been taking to improve my score are now taking a dive due to this huge setback.

I've been working hard to keep my head up these past few years and improve things for my children. I'd love to enjoy this opportunity I've been given and embrace it with the same driven attitude that got me here. This is my last attempt to reach out for just that last bit of help that we need to continue moving forward.

The money will be used to pay a month's rent and also gas for getting to and from work this month. I work 8 hours a day and 7 days a week, yet I'm not even sure how I will buy the gas to get me home tonight.

Any penny will help. I can't let my kids down. Please contribute whatever you feel that you can. I know God will carry us through this trial, and I'm asking for your help. Thank you, friends. And I pray everyone has a happy holiday season.
