When I was younger I had a surgery that changed my life forever. I was in 4th grade when I needed to have spine surgery. For the most part, everything turned out fine. I was still able to walk (yay!). There was a possibility of paralysis and I was so grateful I was able to continue to use my legs after. I did have a small hiccup where I had a spinal fluid leak but after some emergency surgery, I was fine.
One thing I did notice was that I could no longer go up curbs anymore. It was a huge adjustment and still to this day it bums me out. Always gotta know where those curb cuts are!
In 2021, I had my 50th surgery that changed my life forever. I had brain surgery. Again, there were huge risks but everything turned out remarkable. Except for one thing, I began having extreme weakness in my legs. I never thought I took things for granted because of everything I have had to deal with. Well, I did. I took my leg strength for granted. Now that I'm struggling with that, sometimes my balance is so off I almost fall.
I went to the doctor and they suggested physical therapy. Well, just one problem...Medicaid doesn't cover physical therapy. So, I went back to my doctor and he suggested getting a recumbent trike which are apparently very good for people with back pain/issues!
So, I went and looked. I test rode one for about 20 minutes and oh...my...gosh it made a huge difference in the strength of my legs. I thought " wow, if riding one of these things for that short amount of time made a difference, imagine if I could ride one every day!
One problem ..they are EXPENSIVE!
I'm asking you as my friend, please consider donating to help my life out. I will be forever grateful! This money will go directly to the bike and bike trailer.
Please don't take anything for granted. Everything is a gift!
