Hi, we're two ladies named Elli and June.
When we met online, Elli lived in Canada and June lived in Alabama. We fell deeply in love and eventually Elli started staying in Alabama with June, for as long as the law would allow. Being a couple gay ladies in Alabama wasn't exactly safe, and we got very good at keeping our love secret.
Eventually, June moved to Canada with Elli, where we now enjoy being openly and safely married. However, the legal process to get her citizenship is long and expensive. We've spent thousands of dollars and we need thousands more. June's visitor visa ends this November and as much as we want to fast track this process, we've run out of money.
It's a growing source of stress, that permeates everything in our lives. We simply can't imagine being separated. It'd be beyond heartbreaking.
I'm so sorry and ashamed to ask for this help, but as the deadline approaches, I'm growing more desperate.
Whether you're able to help or not, thank you so much for taking the time to read this.
