Jalaya, Amrion, Kelsey, Astie, and Kiarra have already faced more loss than most will experience in a lifetime. After losing both of their parents far too soon, they need our community’s help to stay together and remain in their home. Their mother, Julie Pouncil, passed away on March 23, 2026, at just 51 years old. Julie was a devoted mom, a beloved educator, and a woman of deep faith whose humor and compassion touched countless lives. For more than 20 years, she showed up for children in classrooms, gyms, tutoring sessions, sunday school, and on the basketball court. Julie loved basketball and what it taught about confidence, discipline, and teamwork. Most recently, she coached Kiarra’s basketball team (Aces) through the Keys Foundation, bringing the same joy and encouragement to her players that she brought to her own children and students. Julie’s family had already suffered devastating loss when her husband and childhood sweetheart, Kelly, died suddenly three and a half years ago. Now, their children are navigating life without either parent. Julie’s eldest daughter, JaLaya, is stepping forward to seek guardianship of her siblings while completing her master’s degree. She is capable, committed, and determined to keep her family together—with the support of her community. We are raising funds to assist with rent, food, education expenses, clothing, and other basic needs. Every donation helps provide rent, groceries, school costs, and daily necessities, ensuring the siblings can remain together and focused on school and healing.
