Keep John in the Driver's Seat Against Cancer

Let’s keep John in the driver's seat in his fight against Stage 4 Colorectal cancer.

If you know John, you know two things to be true:

1. He has an encyclopedic knowledge of cars.
2. He can make you laugh even on your worst day.

Right now, John is facing something far tougher than a blown head gasket - He's battling stage four colorectal cancer, and has been since 2018. John was cleared of cancer for two years, but unfortunately, he was told that it has returned. This time around has been a nightmare. He has been bedridden and housebound for nearly a year.

Medical bills, treatments, time away from his family - it all adds up faster than a project car budget with no adult supervision. John was forced to sell his Toyota Tacoma truck that took a lot of hard work to attain and his beautiful FRS that he loved to drive. When he drove the FRS, he was able to forget about his cancer and just enjoy shifting gears, listening to the sounds of the engine with the wind in his beard. It was a heartbreaking time selling his cars, but he did what he had to in order to keep his family going forward financially.

And while cancer clearly picked the wrong guy, the road ahead is long, expensive, and full of unexpected repairs. John had to spend most of December in the hospital due to pain and complications from the cancer; he even had to spend Christmas there instead of being home, watching his daughters enjoy Christmas morning.

John has always loved car culture: the roar of an engine, the smell of gasoline, and the joy of a perfectly timed shift. He's the guy who sees life as a long road trip - sometimes smooth, sometimes bumpy, but always better with good people riding shotgun. Even now, he's facing this fight with humor, grit, and that unmistakable John-style stubbornness that says, "I'm not done yet." On January 15, John went in to have his big surgery where he had a colostomy and a urostomy completed with the hopes that this will give him some pain relief and the prospect of being able to travel more freely and allow him to seek out a second and third opinion for his cancer.

His goal, once he gets through recovery, is to be able to have the chance to spend quality time with his daughters that includes cars, car meets, and introducing them to all the things the car community has to offer. John's oldest daughter is getting ready to get her driver's license, and he would love to be able to share one of his favorite things to do with her, which is to go for an afternoon/evening cruise together.

This GoFundMe is our way of being his pit crew. This will help to pay for some of his medical bills, medical equipment and supplies that are not covered by his insurance, travel to receive treatments and possibly help him find another vehicle. If you're able to donate, you'll be helping John focus on what matters most: healing, fighting, his girls, and getting back to doing what he loves.

If you can't donate, sharing this page means just as much. Let's surround John with the same support, loyalty, and love he's always shown the rest of us.

John has always worked hard to provide for his family. He has pushed himself physically and mentally through his disabilities to make sure his family is safe and taken care of, even at the risk of worsening some of his treatment side effects. He is a very proud man, and it's very hard for him to ask for help from others. Our hope is that with the funds from this, he will finally have the time and hope he needs to rest, heal, and get back to the things that he loves.

Being alive doesn't mean much if you aren't living. Thank you for helping us keep John in the driver's seat!
