John had to have his leg amputated in April 2024. He got his prosthetic in July 2024. Since he got his new leg, he has been in constant pain—not discomfort, but pain. He still has to use a walker. OPC is the company that does John’s prosthetic. So, about a week ago, OPC told John, 'Let’s try a different foot.' This new foot moves like a normal foot, whereas the foot he has now doesn’t move at all; it’s called a peg leg. When they came out to put the new foot on, they told John it costs $8k. So, John told them to take it back off; we can’t afford it, and insurance will NOT cover any of it. OPC said, 'Why don’t you just try it?' So, John said, 'Ok, fine.' Well, he fell in love with it, to say the least. His pain is completely gone, he is walking normally, and doesn’t need his walker. He is walking with a cane. With the other foot, he was falling; with this foot, he said he feels so much more secure when walking, and he’s smiling and is happy for the first time since he lost his leg. He said he feels normal again, not like a freak. John has to give this foot back on the 29th, and he is dreading giving it back because of all the pain the other foot causes. If you can help him, please do. If you can’t, please share. Thanks.
