Jimmy and his family need your help! Fleeing Venezuela to take refuge in the less dangerous, Colombia. I know Jimmy for 2 years, teaching him English, and came to know his family.
In 2020, Jimmy, on his own, fled to Colombia to find employment and send money to his family, struggling in Venezuela while they were tolerating the destitute living conditions and violence. Jimmy's step-father is retired (age 70) and his mother works odd jobs while raising their 10-year-old daughter. Jimmy, surviving on his own, works on a farm in Colombia and housecleans on weekends to contribute money to his family. But, as conditions worsen, he can't keep up.
Now, amidst the political ugliness, the street violence, and the skyrocketing inflation, the father, mother, and daughter took the courageous step to flee Venezuela, leaving behind their apartment and belongings to live in greater safety across the border, in Colombia now, living with Jimmy. Although, reunited--all 4 of them in a 1-bedroom apartment--it's a struggle, but slowly improving. But, just 3 months later, they get damning news in the mail. His parent's apartment and truck are being "expropriated" (invaded and taken over) by the Venezuelan administration for having fled the unlivable.
In order to stop the expropriation, citizens typically pay an attorney $500 (that I already donated) but now must pay $2,200 in fees and fines to fully stop the expropriation process.s I ask for your help in getting this paid in order to keep their apartment, car, and personal belongings. The $2,200 stops the expropriation!
I ask that you donate from the heart, whatever you can, to save them from losing it all to a bullying government. Our goal is to reach $2,200 to immediately stop the expropriation process and hold on to what is theirs while taking refuge in Colombia. Donations are received by me and sent to Jimmy's family. Again... truly, a heartfelt thank you to all of you, who can help Jimmy, Mom, Dad and his little sister to live together in safety, without losing it all.
