Jermaine’s world turned upside down when his father, who worked tirelessly at two jobs to put his son through college, was involved in a devastating car accident. While driving to pick up Jermaine from work one day, he was hit from behind, suffering a severe spinal cord injury that has left him unable to walk or sit comfortably. With no ability to work as a welder or in his second job, his father has lost his livelihood, and the family has now been evicted from their home. Jermaine is facing the heartbreaking possibility of having to leave school due to mounting financial pressures.

Jermaine is one of the most hardworking and motivated young men you’ll ever meet. A standout player on his college basketball team, he maintains a 4.0 GPA while juggling two part-time jobs. He wakes up at 4 AM every day to work at McDonald’s, walking to and from his job in the dark with nothing but a flashlight. He also works at the campus gym, putting every dollar he earns toward his tuition, books, and basic living expenses. Despite his best efforts, Jermaine cannot cover the costs of his current semester or the next on his own.

McDonald’s recognized his incredible dedication and awarded him a $2,500 scholarship, but the reality is that it’s not enough to bridge the gap. Without immediate financial support, Jermaine risks losing everything he’s worked so hard for.
