Hello internet friends, mostly of the Bluesky Dogs variety!
We're Rue, Brady and Jasper the service dog, and we are in a very stressful housing situation bind.
The tl;dr is all I can write at this point: in order to keep our apartment (with one unemployed and one underemployed person in the household), we will have to raise an entire year's rent (approximately $40,000) by the deadline to sign the lease renewal. This is a financial safety issue and not a legal one: with insufficient income our established tenancy only goes so far.
If we can't achieve it, any raised funds will go toward moving costs—though at the moment we haven't got anywhere to move to. That can be figured out closer to the time; the easiest and safest option is to stay where we are but it won't be a feasible one without a LOT of help.
If Rue gets a job that pays high enough to cover the rent again, we will issue refunds or use the money to pay it forward.
We have no expectations of getting enough donations, but we were encouraged to try. Please don't feel obligated, especially if you've helped us before, and remember to figuratively put on your own oxygen mask first. But it would mean the world to everyone, especially routine master Jasper, if we could stay right where we are.
