Keep Jaskirat Sidhu In Canada

Jaskirat Singh Sidhu
My name is Tanvir Mann. On 6 April 2018, my husband was the driver of the truck that collided with the Humboldt Broncos hockey bus, resulting in catastrophic injuries and loss of life. He narrowly survived the Humboldt crash and suffered permanent psychological damage. Out of a desire to take responsibility for his actions and not wanting to cause any more suffering to the families through the ordeal of a trial, he immediately pled guilty to all charges and was sentenced to 8 years in prison.
Even though his sentence was unusually high for this type of offence, he accepted it and did not appeal. Since he has been released on parole, he is facing double punishment in the form of deportation to India. The CBSA is currently preparing for his removal from Canada. We are trying to convince the Minister to stop it and allow him to stay.
I am a Canadian citizen. Our two young children are Canadian citizens. I am trying to raise funds so I can continue my fight to keep my husband in Canada. We want to raise our family in this country that we love and not be forced to return to the country that we chose to leave.
We have received tremendous support from people across Canada and around the world through your lovely letters, greeting cards, emails, and texts. All these mean a lot to us. We are very thankful to you all.
My husband is the best man I know. He is gentle, kind, and generous. He never set out to hurt anyone. He made a tragic mistake. When confronted by the unimaginable magnitude of the consequences of his mistake, he did everything he could to make things better.
I pray that there are people out there who don’t believe that Jaskirat should be deported and are willing to contribute to my fight to be able to live out our lives in Canada. I pray there are people out there ready to help my husband the way he has always helped other people.
Jaskirat is a father now to 2 Canadian born children. Our 3-year-old was born with complex medical conditions including heart and lung deficiencies and had open heart surgery. He was in ICU for 4 months. Our son needs both his parents to get better. It is impossible for me to take care of him by myself. He requires weekly medical follow ups and regular visits with medical specialists. The past 8 years have been very difficult for us. This deportation will take away a father from a son who needs a father at this critical situation and a newborn Daughter who was born in December 2025. We need all your support to move further to help our family.
Our son has been diagnosed with several serious medical conditions for which we must see medical experts on a regular basis. Some of the diagnoses include Congenital Heart disease, Atrial septal defect, Pulmonary interstitial Glycogenesis, and Pulmonary Hypertension. For this reason, he has continuous follow ups. Doing all this without help from Jaskirat will be very difficult, nearly impossible.
I am in a very difficult position right now. I need to be there for my husband as he deals with serious mental health issues. At the same time, I must care for our newborn daughter, and our son, whose medical condition makes it impossible for him to live in India due to the air quality. Balancing these critical family needs has been incredibly hard for us and would be unimaginable without my husband’s support.
This deportation would break our family apart. I am currently in an impossible situation: my husband needs my support for his mental health, but my son has severe medical issues that make it impossible for him to live in India due to the air quality. I need my husband to stay in Canada so he can help me care for our son and daughter. If he is deported, I will face the overwhelming hardship of managing our son's medical needs, our daughter’s care and my husband’s crisis all on my own, while we would be forced to live in separate countries.
This fight has already cost me a lot, and we have used up our personal savings. We have taken loans from friends and family. We are working hard and doing everything possible to continue this fight, but we are at the end of our financial and emotional rope.
All money raised will be used towards my fight to keep Jaskirat in Canada.
Without your support, I cannot fight any longer. Please help me keep Jaskirat in Canada.
Thank you sincerely for anything you can do,

Tanvir
