Help Janet Fight Cholangiocarcinoma — and Keep Her Light Alive

In February, our world changed forever. My sister Janet was diagnosed with cholangiocarcinoma — a rare, aggressive bile duct cancer that most people never even hear about until it strikes their family.

If you know Janet, you know she is pure light. She’s the woman who walks into a room and instantly lifts the energy. The one who cheers the loudest for others, mentors young professionals, builds teams from the heart, and always finds something kind to say — even on her hardest days.

She lived boldly and beautifully. She spent years in Italy, becoming fluent in Italian and falling in love with travel, culture, and good food. She loved exploring new places, new restaurants, weekend adventures — always with her camera ready and her smile even readier.

But since her diagnosis, everything has changed.

Cancer and its treatments have taken a devastating toll on her body. She can no longer walk without help. Neuropathy makes her hands and feet ache constantly. Even a simple shower leaves her exhausted. She battles nonstop nausea and anemia. Driving is no longer possible. Her independence has been stripped away piece by piece.

And then came another blow.

In September, Janet lost her job — not because of her work, but because of her illness. Her employer initially promised to continue her insurance coverage, but without warning, they stopped paying for her plan at the end of September. She entered October — the very month she needed hospitalization — completely uninsured.

The result? Crushing medical debt.

Hospital stays, treatments, procedures, and medications have piled up. We’ve applied for every type of financial help available, but only a fraction is covered. Even the uncovered weeks from October alone are overwhelming.

As a family, we are doing everything we can. But the costs are far beyond what we can manage alone. Janet deserves to focus on healing — not drowning in debt because she got sick.
