Help James and His Family Avoid Homelessness

Hi, my name is James Rak, and I’m 21 years old

When I was just one year old, my brother and I were adopted by my amazing parents, Maryjo and Thomas Rak. I will always be grateful for the love and care they gave us. Sadly, my mom passed away when I was only 12 years old. Since then, life has been difficult, but I’ve done my best to keep going.

I live with my dad and grandparents, along with my girlfriend and her two kids. My girlfriend and I are also expecting a baby of our own soon. I have ADHD and ODD, and my brother is autistic, so we’ve both faced our share of challenges over the years. When my mom passed, she left behind money for us, but to this day, we’ve never seen it and don’t know what happened to it.

When my girlfriend moved in, my dad allowed it, but things became very hard. My grandmother started harassing us constantly, saying she doesn’t want us there. It’s been so stressful that my girlfriend ended up in the hospital with early bleeding from the stress of everything.

We’ve been doing everything we can to help pay bills, buy groceries, and contribute as much as possible, but now we’ve been told we have to leave in just a few days. We have nowhere to go, and we can’t afford an apartment right now.

I’m just trying to keep my family safe and off the streets — my pregnant girlfriend, her two kids, and our baby on the way.
