Keep Isabelle Off the Streets

I'm Ellie, a professional musician, and this GoFundMe is for my friend Isabelle who is having a housing crisis I can't solve with my musician's salary and she may have to go out on the street if she can't raise some money for housing.

I met Isabelle a year or so ago and she's a lot of fun! Last November at 2am one night she had a driver run into her parked car that she was living out of. We dunno why she was hit, if there was some alcohol thing happening with the driver that hit her or what. But the little car was totaled during the cold season in 2024

For most of us, losing our car would be really terrible, and for Isabelle it was (She was driving Uber at the time), but it was absolutely devastating because Isabelle'd been living in her car for a year. She'd tried to save up a few times but Uber was charging her like $1750/mo for an economy car rental so she could work (and live) and there just wasn't enough left over for an apartment also. Uber and Avis demanded a huge deposit on getting a new car.

So we moved Isabelle into my tiny studio apartment with me and she's been looking for work ever since then - that was 6 months ago. She'd had some near hires but none of them turned out to be permanent positions. I guess it's really hard right now.

At my place there is no space for a second person and she's been sleeping on the other side of the bed and we've been getting by as best we could. But there's a problem - I have a special needs niece and I'm moving to California to help with her. So as of May 28, 2025 Isabelle won't have a place to stay.

We did talk to the mayor of our little area and he agreed to pay the first month's rent on whatever place she could rent, but we still have to come up with a security deposit (1.5x the rent), some buffer room in case she doesn't find something right away, and medication money.

That's right, this is a terrible story and all, but the matter's actually a lot worse than that because Isabelle has Diabetes and her medication for that and her ridiculously high blood pressure needs to be refrigerated. Her blood pressure gets to the point of being in the You Are Having A Stroke area pretty commonly and the housing crisis isn't helping that any. She also has to pay for these medications - one of which is $1300/mo - because Murca.

If you could part with a donation toward a fund she can use to procure housing with a refrigerator and medication, I'd be really grateful. If you can't, or even if you can, I'd super appreciate you sharing this fundraiser so we can get this fund going for her. The movers are coming to move my apartment to California this coming Wednesday and we were hoping to have a bit of cash so she doesn't end up on the street without a way to store her medication safely.
