For over a decade, The Australian Independent Media Network (The AIMN) has been a vital home for citizen journalists, independent writers, and public interest voices that mainstream media often overlooks or under-represents.
Since 2013, The AIMN has published thousands of articles on the issues that matter most to everyday Australians: political accountability, environmental crises, social inequality, corporate influence, democracy under threat, and critiques of concentrated media power. It’s a platform where ordinary people can contribute thoughtful analysis, hold power to account, and engage in real debate - without corporate filters, paywalls, or advertiser agendas.
In an era where Australian media ownership is among the most concentrated in the world, independent outlets like The AIMN play a crucial role in sustaining a healthy democracy. They amplify diverse perspectives, fact-check narratives, and give a megaphone to grassroots voices on everything from climate collapse to political corruption.
But keeping the site running isn’t free. Hosting fees, security programs, moderation tools, domain renewals, and basic technical upkeep add up - especially as traffic grows and threats like spam or cyberattacks increase.
We’re launching this fundraiser to raise $5,000 to cover these essential costs for the next 3 years. This modest amount will ensure The AIMN stays online and open to contributions from writers across Australia.
