Please Read – From a Struggling Mom Just Trying to Keep the Lights On

I never thought I’d be in this position… but here I am, swallowing my pride and asking for help.

I’m a single mom doing everything I can to hold my home and family together since my husband left and relocated out of state almost 3 years ago to be with another woman and her child, leaving his own child abandoned. The last few years have been one challenge after another, but I’ve kept pushing forward for my daughter.

To help with bills, I rented out the second floor of my home — but my tenant stopped paying rent 17 months ago. I’ve been in court with a lawyer for 15 long, stressful months trying to get through the eviction process. It’s been exhausting emotionally, mentally, and financially.

Because of all of this, my electric bill along with other bills have climbed over $3,000, and I’m terrified of losing my home. I’ve applied for every assistance program I could find, called churches, and reached out to every organization people have recommended — but I’ve been denied or told there’s no funding available.

This situation has taken such a heavy toll on us. It’s ruined years of birthdays and holidays for my daughter, and it breaks my heart to see her go without because of something so far out of my control. What should’ve been memories filled with laughter and love have been replaced by stress and worry.

I’m tired. I’m scared. But I’m still fighting — for her, and for our home.
