# Help HARTS Rescue Get Back on the Road

When wildfires and other emergencies threaten our communities, most people are focused on getting their own families to safety. DJ and Jeff, founders of **HARTS Rescue**, are focused on making sure no one—including the animals—is left behind.

HARTS Rescue is a nonprofit organization that has become a lifeline for families across **Siskiyou County, California, and Jackson and Josephine Counties, Oregon**, providing emergency evacuations for livestock, pets, and other animals when disaster strikes. Time and time again, they have answered the call—often putting the needs of others before their own.

Now, they need our help.

While responding during this fire season and they evacuated a couple of their horses as a precaution from the very same fire they were helping others escape, their primary rescue vehicle suffered a catastrophic transmission failure. This truck is essential to their mission, safely towing their large livestock trailer that has helped evacuate countless horses, cattle, and other large animals.

Over the past month, DJ and Jeff have already invested **more than $4,000** of their own money into repairs to keep this critical vehicle on the road. Now they are facing an **estimated $8,000 transmission replacement**—an expense that simply isn't sustainable for a nonprofit that gives so much back to the community.

Without this truck, HARTS Rescue's ability to respond to emergencies is dramatically reduced. Every day it sits idle is another day families may not have the help they need to evacuate the animals they love.
