Glitter Pop is currently closed - I was forced to shut down at my food cart pod after what I believe is predatory landlord behavior and an aggressive lease termination.
This GoFundMe is no longer about expansion or “a second cart someday.” It’s about two things:
1. Legal fees – so I can hire an attorney and fight back against what’s happened under my commercial lease, instead of being steamrolled because I can’t afford representation.
2. A new cart and location – so Glitter Pop has a real chance to come back in a safer, more stable space with fair terms.
Over the past months I’ve dealt with:
• Ongoing issues with the cart and site that interfered with my ability to operate
• Delayed or inadequate fixes after repeated requests
• A sudden escalation into “default” and termination when I tried to use the protections in my lease and ask for basic habitability
I have a written lease, notices, emails, and documentation that I believe show I acted in good faith. But when you’re one small tenant on a pad and they control the land, it’s very easy for them to push you out and assume you won’t fight.
Right now:
• Glitter Pop is shut down at this location
• I’m looking at reopening ASAP. court and legal battles I can’t afford alone
• I need to raise money to pay a lawyer and to get into a new cart/pod so this business isn’t permanently erased
Your donations will go toward:
• Attorney retainers and legal costs related to this lease dispute
• Moving/storage costs for my existing equipment
• A replacement cart or major repairs + fees/deposits for a new pod or space
• Basic setup costs to get Glitter Pop operational again once I secure a new home
This isn’t just about one soda cart. It’s part of a bigger pattern where property owners hold all the power and small, independent businesses get squeezed out quietly. I don’t want this to happen in the dark. I want to fight it, and I want Glitter Pop to exist on the other side of it.
If you’ve ever supported me, stopped by the cart, shared a video, or just care about small businesses getting crushed by landlord power, please consider donating or sharing this campaign.
I’m also open to press and media coverage about this situation and the broader issue of how commercial tenants are treated — feel free to share this widely.
Thank you for helping me fight back and giving Glitter Pop a chance at a new life, in a new place, on better terms.
Justine
