Hi, I'm MJ, a one-person indie developer in Nebraska working as Gamer4life.

I make software that's free for everyone: Android apps and games, Windows programs, and other tools. There are no ads, no paywalls, no subscriptions, and I don't collect or sell your data. My first Android app, Mini Arcade, is live on Google Play: 100 mini-games in one small download, all hand-built and play-tested. The latest update gave every game real physics: blocks that fall apart, tubes that pour, balls that bounce and roll. More apps, Windows programs and other software are on the way.

I want to keep it that way, and that's what this fundraiser is for.

1. Legal fees and taxes to form the business
I'm registering Gamer4life as an official business, a small Nebraska LLC. It makes my work legitimate and protected, and it lets me publish new apps as soon as they're ready. Right now Google makes solo developers find 12 testers and wait 14 days before each app can be released, and registered businesses skip that. I want to do it properly, so this also covers legal and tax advice and the taxes owed on what's raised.

2. Keeping everything free
Running a business costs money every year even when you charge nothing: state reports, the registered agent that keeps my home address private, and the tools and test devices I need to build and test on. Your support covers those costs so nobody ever has to pay to use what I make and I never have to add ads or subscriptions.

Where the money goes:
  • Nebraska LLC filing fee: $100
  • Required newspaper notice (3 weeks, Nebraska law): about $40-250
  • Filing the newspaper proof with the state: $27
  • Registered agent, first year (keeps my home address private): $49
  • Legal and tax advice to set the business up correctly: about $150-300
  • Taxes on the money raised (set aside): about $200-300
  • Keeping everything free for the first year (state report, agent renewal, tools and test devices): about $100-200
  • GoFundMe payment processing: about $30-35
  • Total: about $700-1,250
I'll post receipts for every step as updates here, so you can see exactly where your money went. Anything left over goes to the next year's costs of keeping everything free.

Every dollar helps, and so does sharing. Thank you for helping keep software free for everyone.
