Gabby's Israel Dream

Hey, my name is Gabby!

For those of you who don't know me, here is brief rundown. I grew up around the reform Jewish community. While I was involved and enjoyed  the community activities, there was nothing that excited my jewish soul.


My jewish identity wasn't something that defined me and was more a reminder of my childhood and traditions past.

It wasn't until college that I got a glimpse into the essence of what Judaism is all about. I would attend activities at my local Chabad on campus and I started to grow closer to the Rabbis and Rebbetzins there. They encouraged me to attend a week long program called Snorkel and Study. Thank G-d, I went and was hooked!


After graduating college, my connection with Judaism dimmed. I was the only Jew in my friend group and my Judaism went as far as me lighting the Shabbat candles on Friday night, making Kiddush for myself, and taking a bite of leftover challah from the JCC where I worked.

Two years out of college, I began to crave the light that initially drew me in to the beauty of Judaism. When my friend told me two months ago that she would be attending a program in Israel called Machon Alte my heart begged me to find out more.

Shortly thereafter, I quit my job and made plans to come to Israel to study. I initially planned to be here for six weeks, two of which were in quarantine. However, I immediately realized I needed to stay.  This program offers me the ability to learn more about myself, deepen my understanding of Judaism, and finally feel a grounded and, G-d willing, everlasting connection to it.


And this is where you guys come in! It would mean the world to me if this year instead of a birthday present I could have your support in this endeavor. I'm still juggling my rent and expenses at home as well as the basic necessities for my time studying here.  All I want this year is to be able to continue to study in Israel and I need YOUR help to make that dream a reality.
