Hey! I’m Freezer Steve, video artist, professional handy person, and mutual aid worker/organizer. I live and work in Los Angeles, and have worked with dozens of mutual aid organizations in LA. Over the last 4 years I’ve delivered over 115 fridges for LA Community Fridges and delivered tens of thousands of drinks to food distribution events with my pickup truck. I got in an accident driving to work on the freeway in the rain on 2/5/24, I hydroplaned, did a 540* in my truck and smashed into the curb. I didn’t hit or get hit by anybody, and sustained some minor injuries, like bruised ribs, whiplash, and a bump on the head. Im alright, but my truck needs some work tho, I need at least 2 new tires, 2 new wheels, and there’s something wrong with my suspension/steering system, which I haven’t got diagnosed yet. I need some help fixing my truck. I’m hoping $1,200-$1,500 should cover everything. I’ve helped so many people and orgs move stuff over the years, I’ve delivered 115 fridges, I’ve helped folks fix their cars, and their houses/community spaces, and done video art at benefit shows, and now, I need help from y’all. If everybody/every org I’ve worked with over the last half decade threw in $5, I’d reach my goal in a couple days. I need my truck for my job, and for my community activism, I wanna get it fixed and back in use as quickly as possible. It’s unsafe to drive at the moment.
