Support Free Shakespeare in Charlotte

For the past 3 years, thousands of people from all walks of life have gathered at an old dairy barn in East Charlotte to laugh and experience magic together. There is no other experience like this in the Queen City where you can come as you are, with no barriers of cost, and simply relax and enjoy what Shakespeare is meant to be--a cultural inheritance for ALL people.

We are Shepherd Shakespeare Company: A husband and wife team based out of Charlotte, NC with the goal of making Shakespeare fun and accessible for all. We had the dream of FREE, professional Shakespeare in the Queen City, and are now approaching our 4th annual Bard at the Barn! This year, we are doing The Tempest!

Bard at the Barn is a welcoming event for all ages that is completely free to attend. Families bring picnics and blankets and spread them out under the trees. The show is a hilarious, 90 minute version of one of Shakespeare's famous plays, done in a way that everyone can understand and enjoy. For many families, it's a Fall tradition! See more here:

We still have $6,000 left to raise. The state of arts funding in our country is very tumultuous, so it is more important than ever to have individual and corporate sponsors. The vast majority of our budget goes to paying local artists and actors.

This fundraiser is meant for those who are able to give freely without causing any financial burden. In the spirit of what free Shakespeare in the park is meant to be--we simply don't want your money unless you have the extra means to give.
