Keep Fatty Natty’s Pizza Dream Alive

Dear friends,

As some of you know, we’ve been ordered to stop Fatty Natty’s pizza pop-up at my cafe. I want to help Nat and his friends get a food truck or small brick-and-mortar restaurant.

This has been a big blow for him as it’s been an important source of income for Nat and his family, while Nat and his brother Joe have been taking care of his ill parents, physically and financially. The brothers are also working to keep the family home.

For those of you who don’t know, his father and my dear friend, David Talbot, suffered a stroke in 2024, losing his ability to speak, functionality of his right arm, and steadiness on his feet. David is a beloved San Francisco figure, a progressive activist, and author of several books, including Season of the Witch, about the fight for San Francisco values in the '60s and '70s. His mother, Camille Peri, worked through stage 4 cancer to complete her book, A Wilder Shore, about the bohemian marriage of Fanny and Robert Louis Stevenson.

Camille and David created a home that was always open to Nat and Joe’s childhood friends, so it makes sense that Nat’s dream is to open a pizzeria with his best friends. As a longtime friend of the family, it’s hard to see Nat lose something that has brought him and his friends – and you fans of his delicious pizza – so much joy. We’ve had so much fun doing these pop-ups together. I’m proud to have been able to help them grow their business.

I’m asking for your help so that Nat can get a food truck or lease a small brick-and-mortar restaurant for him and friends to keep making us pizza! $50k could get a good used truck. Besides contributing to a good cause, you’d be helping SF support homegrown businesses. Whatever you can give would be appreciated.

Thank you all!
