We almost lost our Evan around this time last year. He was hospitalized because he was septic with a collapsed lung. Evan was on a ventilator for nearly 8 weeks, during which time his 'good' lung was collapsed during a procedure. He was a fighter and through the pain, tears, and a lot of prayer, he survived! He was sent home with a tracheostomy and we were told to keep him comfortable and to wait for him to die. To die! Evan is the light of our family, our heart. We fight! Part of that fight has been the Volara system Evan's pulmonologist ordered for him. This machine expands Evan's lungs, breaks up everything in his lungs, and allows us to suction it out... keeping Evan out of the hospital and alive. Insurance won't let him keep this machine that he needs to stay home with his family and to live! The machine is $16,500 and the supplies are another $150 a month. We really need help! Giving up this machine would mean giving up on our Evan! We can't!
