Fifteen years ago, I started ElectionProjection.com to track the 2004 presidential election. As time passed, the website's popularity grew beyond my wildest expectations.
Each election season since then, EP has been at the top of the heap in accurately projecting electoral winners. Back in 2004, that heap was very small. In fact, Election Projection was the first website to be solely dedicated to projecting elections with the now-ubiquitous red and blue maps and "commenting on things along the way," as my tagline used to tout.
These days, corporate-backed commercial websites with a team of writers, researchers and web designers have created a much larger heap in the projection business. The environment has changed significantly for me, and EP's traffic has suffered a precipitous decline.
Even so, there are a good number of people who still love The Blogging Caesar's methodology and commentary. It is for those people that I wish to continue producing Election Projection.
However, after a very disappointing 2018 election season - from a revenue standpoint - I all but decided to bring EP's history to a close. I posted as much on the blog with the caveat that I would reconsider closing down if someone would be willing to fund me for the 2020 election season.
Well, someone did respond. They are willing to commit a very generous contribution to help make the hundreds of hours it takes to maintain Election Projection worth my effort. Their offer is a great start, but it won't do the trick by itself.
That's where you come in - and that's why I've started this campaign. If you've enjoyed Election Projection over the years - perhaps even contributed to my work in the past - I'm asking you to help me in 2020 by contributing as generously as you can to this campaign.
With your help, I'll be able to Keep EP Going!
Thank you so much! Scott Elliott Founder, ElectionProjection.com
