UPDATE BELOW: (We have been forced to move)
Hi, this is Adrian, Elvis, and September here. We have gotten ourselves into a pickle with back rent. Adrian's seasonal job ended in December 2023. A year before that, Adrian experienced his first bout with MS symptoms. Convinced the high-stress sales job contributed to his first-ever MS attack (20 years after diagnosis), he chose not to pursue sales work further. He applied for gaming, graphic design, and caricature jobs instead, to no avail. Unemployment covered basic bills, but the rent was too d*mn high. When he had run through his unemployment checks, he lost hope, became depressed, and lost time. At first, we were three months behind, and they offered a payment plan that was rejected by the new management a month later. We were placed on eviction proceedings and could not make any payments unless it was the full amount. Adrian applied for every charity suggested but the amount was too high to cover, and management won't take partial payments. Adrian fell into a deep hole. He popped up around Halloween to start promoting his art shop, in the hopes of making a month's rent. Building up art sales takes more than a month of trying, so sales were not as expected, and he went into another three months of depression.
On the bright side, Elvis found work assisting our friend, Tiffany, recovering from a broken leg during the summer and fall of 2024. Elvis was able to pay the basic bills. With Tiffany's help and encouragement, Elvis pursued the licenses needed to be a home-caregiver. Elvis is now working full-time as a home caregiver. September started community college this year, studying video editing.
Adrian's last MRI showed no new attacks since January. Because Adrian needs to avoid stress to keep symptoms at bay, he wished to avoid another move, and to continue creating art at his own pace, with the opportunity to rest when symptoms flare up. Unfortunately, we lost our case last Friday with the landlord (4/4/25) and need to move out by May 9th.
Our dream was to stay in this perfect space for creating, and convenient location for Elvis and September's commute to school and work. On a super positive note, I think we may have already found a place that will work for our plans and dreams. Now I have lowered our goal to cover moving expenses. Please consider donating to help us keep a roof over our heads and support all our life and art endeavors.
