Eli, a disabled queer person of color, and their grandmother Hazel, with whom Eli lives, need help to pay the property taxes on their house.
Property taxes are due in early February 2026, and they need $3200 to cover the bill so they can stay in their house in Michigan, in the Detroit area. Eli has been unhoused before, and experiencing that again is one of their greatest fears.
They need the help this year because while Eli manages their (limited) finances extremely carefully, 2025 was a terrible year for their household expenses. The boiler was condemned over the summer (an unexpected $17k bill!) and they had to re-pipe the kitchen last summer because of a decades-old very badly-done amateur plumbing job (an unexpected $2k bill!).
Eli is too disabled to work, but still waiting for their disability appeal to be decided, and Hazel's Social Security doesn't go nearly as far as it used to.
The photos in this GFM show the reason the boiler needed to be replaced, Eli themself, and Eli's dog Ianto.
GOAL:
$3,200 would cover the property taxes.
Anything beyond that would go toward paying down their credit card debt, because they've had to put the last two years of property taxes on the credit card, and it's full up.
