Help Desiree Keep Her Home While Her Husband Eric Faces Deportation

Our dear friends, Desiree and Eric, are facing a heartbreaking emergency. Eric — a husband, friend, photographer, coach, and longtime member of our community — was suddenly detained by ICE during a routine check-in. Now, he’s at risk of being deported to a country that doesn’t even recognize him as a citizen.

We’re raising funds to help Desiree stay afloat — to keep a roof over her head, pay their bills, and fight to bring Eric home.

Who Eric Is

Eric is 38 years old and has lived in the United States since he was just 11. He and his family fled Venezuela legally as asylum seekers, escaping an oppressive regime and searching for safety. For the past 25+ years, he’s called the U.S. home — building a life, working as a professional wedding photographer, coaching fitness, paying taxes, and most importantly: showing up for every single one of his immigration check-ins.

But at his most recent check-in, without warning, Eric was taken into custody.

Why This Is So Wrong

Eric is stateless. Because he came to the U.S. as a child and has no recognized citizenship documents from Venezuela, he now has no legal nationality anywhere in the world. This technicality has prevented him from securing U.S. citizenship, despite doing everything right. And now, ICE is holding him indefinitely.

How You Can Help

While we fight the legal battle, Desiree is left alone to cover all of their living expenses, including rent, utilities, and daily essentials — all while dealing with the emotional trauma of possibly losing her husband.
