Hello,
My name is Jim and I have a friend who has fallen on hard times. He is 61 and has had long-term Covid (3 months duration before the vaccine was available and Omicron this past January). He had hoped he could be a part of a long-term Covid survivor’s study through his doctor but that fell away when he lost his insurance. Survivors of long-term Covid have a whole host of problems that are still being studied.
He lost his job last October—only 2 years before being vested for pension and insurance, and has run out of retirement savings. He now has no health insurance and has a chronic condition that needs regular medical treatment, aside from the remnants of having Covid. He has been doing what he can, driving for Lyft and other gig economy work, but it’s not enough in his current situation.
He needs at lot of help to get a little ahead. I, and other friends have helped as best they could, but it has been difficult for him to find employment at his age. He was just turned down for a job which he was a finalist for that would have helped greatly and given him insurance.
Any funds anyone can send his way to help him get back on his feet would be greatly appreciated. This is an immediate need.
