Darren was diagnosed with ALS, a terminal disease with no cure. It is a disease which degrades muscles over time, causing the person to waste away slowly. Death is caused by the degradation of breathing muscles till they no longer exist.

There is currently no cure, and we are turning to alternative therapies, which are expensive and not covered by insurance. The only hope of survival for Darren is to extend his life and slow down his decline, while we wait for a cure to be approved by FDA. This fundraiser will be used to pay for the alternative therapies which help extend Darren's life.  As the sole caregiver and breadwinner in the family, the past year had been most challenging and exacerbated by the COVID-19 situation in the United States.
