Amy Martz is a long time teacher in Utah who was helping a distraught, autistic 6 year-old student find her mother. Her actions to protect this child from wandering away from the school landed her in jail.
On Monday, November 18th, 2019, District Attorney, Sim Gill, charged and had Amy arrested and handcuffed in her home, and booked into the Salt Lake County jail. He charged her with first degree kidnapping which carries a sentence of 15 years to life in prison, just like homicide.
She posted bail, which was set at $25,000, and has had to hire a criminal defense attorney in the fight of her life and the lives of her 4 adopted children.
The world needs good Samaritans, and we must continue to have teachers like Amy who are willing to protect our children without fear of these kinds of consequences.
Thank you for your support!
