Keep Colchester High Street M&S Open

Hi,

My name is Sarah Westera and I've been running a campaign to keep Colchester high street M&S Open.

We must keep this vital Colchester High Street store open! Colchester town centre is a vibrant place for people to shop and experience our rich Roman history. Without this busy and popular Marks and Spencer store, the rest of the town will suffer badly. This decision by M&S has not been made in the interest of customers. Only the interest of larger profits has been considered here. It's damaging to the environment, with more people having longer car journeys. Lots of people will not be able to travel on buses or walk into town to shop. Stane Retail Park is not central to many areas of Colchester and surrounding villages. Journey times could potentially take up to 40 minutes or more.

If they needed to expand, they should have moved into the old Debenhams store, which could have been a flagship M&S in our town!
