Spende geschützt
The Covid Pandemic has been very challenging for many businesses around the world and City Dance is also in a very precarious position.
As many of you know, we found a replacement building last year for the beautiful space we lost in 2018, and we signed a lease in May of 2019.

We immediately started making the upstairs dance-ready and we also started the lengthy City approval process (we are STILL waiting for full final approval from the planning department), But in the mean time, our architects and engineers have done a beautiful job solving all the issues that will make the building legal and safe for our students to enjoy for the next 20 years! The new space will include 3 great new studios, a space for studio performances and events, a space for our late night sessions that we have had to stop temporarily, 8 new bathroom stalls, a lift for differently abled people, sprinklers, insulation, new stairs for the proper egress in case of emergency, sprung dance floors throughout, and inspiring architecture that fosters a welcoming and social atmosphere!
Unfortunately, with the shut down of San Francisco, and most of the world really, we run the risk of losing this great new building and that would be terrible. We have invested almost all of our savings toward the project so far so this comes at a really scary time.
If you can support our immediate need which really is just to keep paying rent on the space, it would be amazing! We hate to get this far and then have the rug yanked out from under us, especially since we have invested so much time, energy and money into the project so far.
We don't know how long the Shelter in Place order will remain and we also don't know how long it will take to get the business back to "normal operations" so we are trying to raise three months worth of rent payments right now and that adds up to $43,350.
We are offering online classes and we have had a great time dancing with everyone that way but that income only covers the very small bills and the teacher's cuts. It really isn't making a dent in our large rent obligations.
We have also applied for every government loan/grant under the sun and so far we have heard that we are not a good candidate for the programs that offer significant assistance. This has been a very scary time indeed.
For those who have connections to businesses that give money, or have significant resources themselves, we hope to reach you and plant the idea of considering a much larger gift toward the project. We borrowed as much money as we could to finish the project but the costs are higher than we anticipated. It has been a dream of ours since we started City Dance in 2003 to have our own, permanent space in San Francisco and we will do whatever it takes to make it happen. Heck, we will even name the building after someone if they can help us get this across the finish line. Now is the perfect time to get a head start on the bigger construction aspects of the project that will require a complete move out.
Thank you for reading this far and we also thank you for being a valued member of our community. We love seeing people smiling, dancing, hanging out, flirting, trying new dance styles and performing onstage at our shows! We can't wait to get back to that!
