A little bit over a month ago, we drove over to South LA shelter to pick up Charlie for a short-term foster period. We fell in love with him the second we met him, and were devastated to have to find him another home after our time was up.
Although it is no fault of their own, LA shelters are having to euthanize at a rapid rate right now. Locations are beyond capacity, and more and more animals are coming in every day. We fear what Charlie’s future will hold if he has to return, and are doing everything we can to make sure he doesn’t have to. There are so many people who want to help Charlie, but due to his severe level of separation anxiety, he hasn’t found a home that is able to cater to his needs. So many people have expressed interest in fostering/adopting him, but options have been falling through because right now, he needs eyes on him around the clock. At this point, unless someone with a lot of experience is willing to take/train him, we need to find another option. We are hoping that a board & train program will help him learn to be alone so that he is able to finally devote his loving, loyal, playful self to his forever family.
As a group of college students at USC, we need help raising the funds to get him into a program. We want the best for him, and are running out of options. He is an amazing dog, and we know that someday he will thrive in a home.
