Emergency Help Needed — Support a Healer in Los Angeles
Hello, my name is Cassandra Faye Floyd. I’m a mother, a
grandmother, an ordained minister, healer, and healthcare provider with a focus in Traditional Chinese Medicine and 5 Elements Medicine. For the past eight years, I’ve happily called Los Angeles home. During that time, I’ve volunteered with more than 50 nonprofit organizations — ranging from projects centered around Native American youth, at-risk youth of color, LGBTQIA+ youth, individuals experiencing homelessness, those impacted by the judicial system, and survivors of domestic violence.
Through these programs, I’ve offered care, empowerment through education and advocacy, and both physical and spiritual healing to those who needed it most. My work has always been guided by one belief: that love and service can heal even the deepest wounds.
Now, the healer needs help.
My work as a healthcare provider and community educator has been deeply impacted by the Los Angeles wildfires, which continue to affect families, small businesses, and livelihoods throughout our city. According to Los Angeles County data, more than 1,800 businesses were located in the fire zones, employing 9,600 workers and generating roughly $1.4 billion in annual sales before the fires.
And though the L.A. fires are no longer trending in the news, we here are still acutely aware of the impact of this unbelievable event. The emotional and financial scars are still raw, and the grief, fear, and uncertainty are palpable everywhere in this city. The economic fallout from the fires was only multiplied by the terrible ICE campaign waged by this administration, targeting immigrant families and essential workers in a city still struggling to recover. Our communities — diverse, creative, and full of heart — have been hit from multiple sides.
In the midst of all this, my own work has slowed to a grinding halt, and I am now facing the painful possibility of losing my home. Finding stable work has been challenging in this climate, especially when so many people around me are still rebuilding their own lives.
My Life’s Work: A Lifetime of Healing
I’ve spent 25+ years helping others — through healthcare, healing, fierce activism on behalf of the suffering, and by transferring my many skills through creative education. I’ve put my healing hands on literally thousands of people over the years. I am honored to say that many have told me they were forever changed by my intervention in their lives — something that humbles me deeply and for which I am so grateful I have been gifted with the ability to do.
I’ve held hands in hospitals, led ceremonies of spiritual healing, and traveled long distances to facilitate retreats for entire families seeking peace and renewal. I’ve taught everyone from toddlers to the elderly, creating spaces for learning, laughter, and connection. I’ve stood beside families through their hardest moments, helping them find light again.
I’ve always believed that community is sacred, and that healing is a shared act — a circle of giving, receiving, and growing together.
Why I’m Asking for Help
I’m raising funds to:
• Keep my home while I navigate this difficult transition and rebuild my career. I need to raise $9,755 RIGHT AWAY AS I AM FACING eviction as of April 8 (court date) and a total of $13,000 by the end of April!
- My car requires $6,000 of repairs
• Stabilize my healthcare practice and spiritual healing ministry so I can continue serving others in need. I had been practicing from home and facilitating outcalls (going to people's homes), but I'm no longer able to practice from home (due to impact of the fires) and outcalls are extremely limited since so many have lost their homes in my service area. I must consolidate the start-up capital necessary to open a storefront from which to practice, to streamline my services. This will require an upfront investment: supplies and equipment, setup cost, licenses/permits, utilities, advertisement/marketing/website, etc. These costs are where the majority of the money from this fundraiser will be used.
• Create low-cost workshops and healing programs for children, families, and elders — focused on recovery, creativity, and resilience during uncertain times.
Why This Matters
I’ve spent my life helping others heal, often quietly, behind the scenes — one person, one family, one classroom at a time.
Now, I find myself on the other side of that circle, humbly asking for support. Needing healing and financial help.
Since November, I’ve been attempting to quietly solve and navigate what I saw was quickly becoming urgent. I’ve always been excellent at solving problems on my own — it’s what I do best. But as the days turned to months, I could feel the desperation set in and could feel the impact of it on my physical health. The fear, the exhaustion, and the weight on my motivation have been heavy, even as I’ve tried to remain optimistic for myself and those around me.
Upon turning 50 years old in September, I was met with the realization that this is a serious turning point in my life — one that’s forced me to pause, reflect, and reach for help in a way that feels entirely new. Even asking for help like this is a huge deviation from my norm, but I know that to heal, we must sometimes allow ourselves to be held.
Your donation helps me stay in my home and rebuild the foundation that allows me to continue giving back to the Los Angeles community — the same city I’ve happily called home for nearly a decade, and have served through healthcare, creativity, and faith.
Sometimes, even the healer needs healing. That time is now.
With love and deep gratitude,
Cassandra Faye Floyd
