13 months ago, our family suffered a devastating loss when Devon — Jaleesa’s best friend and the loving father of her children — passed away. He gained his wings far too soon and is now their angel, watching over them with love and protection.

Just one month before his passing, Jaleesa and Devon received heartbreaking news: our sweet Carter, carries the same genetic condition that took Devon’s life — a form of heart failure.

Since then, Jaleesa has done everything in her power as a devoted mother to keep Carter healthy. She’s followed every medical recommendation, stayed on top of testing, and ensured that his heart has remained stable.

But on January 16, 2025, Carter experienced his first major cardiac episode. He was rushed to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, where doctors had to prepare to shock his heart back into a normal rhythm. It was a terrifying day for all of us — one no parent or grandparent should ever have to face.

Since then, Carter’s journey has been filled with constant medical appointments, tests, bloodwork, and monitoring. And now again we’ve found ourselves in another emergency — another sudden cardiac scare that sent Carter back to the ER.
