Keep Camel's Hump Camp Thriving for Kids

Greetings friends! I'm Sienna Gallus, and I'm a counselor at Camel's Hump Farm Summer Camp who strongly believes in their mission to empower and educate youth through nature-based learning, exploration and creativity.

Every summer, children from all walks of life and of diverse needs step into a world of creativity, exploration, and hands-on learning—right on our beautiful farm! With a wide variety of engaging areas, campers will dive into exciting adventures like animal care, construction, filmmaking, fashion design, journalism, nature conservation, eco-observation and SO much more! Whether a child loves the arts, the outdoors, science, sports or storytelling, there’s something here for every passion as we additionally expose them to new experiences to broaden their minds and hearts.

For instance, through our club sessions each day, campers build real-world skills like teamwork, communication, critical thinking, innovation and confidence—all while connecting deeply with nature. From creek hikes to chicken coop care, batik to eco-hero missions, survival skills to debate teams, each day is packed with laughter, learning, and memories in the making.

The counselors here are tirelessly committed to deeply understanding our campers so we can cater to their interests and individual emotional, mental and physical needs. This is a place where children who may not find themselves fitting in with the status quo can flourish, discover how they can make their mark on the world and feel safe to be their most authentic self. At Camel's Hump Camp, kids don’t just play—they grow. We have seen with our own eyes immense progress made in children who struggled socially, emotionally and intellectually when special attention is paid to their success.

Victoria Bastidas, the head of the farm, devotes many sleepless nights to helping our community --beyond just service given to our youth. She single-handedly manages a community garden, rehabilitative work opportunities for struggling individuals, environmental conservation, and focuses on uplifting special needs individuals as well. However, this summer, the farm has encountered numerous financial struggles where our charitable spirit has resulted in very little money coming back to the farm. In order to support those around us who help maintain the farm, the livelihoods of our neighbors and the success of our children, we humbly ask for support.

We hope that it is recognized that extending our love to people and the environment gives us purpose, and we want nothing more but to continue that mission. Every donation, no matter how small, can have a significant impact. Thank you for your generosity!
