Keep BunKon the elephant free
EVEN A SMALL DONATION WILL GIVE BUNKON FREEDOM IN THE FOREST
Until just a short while ago, 36 year old Asian elephant BunKon and her older friend, 58 year old H'Plu, spent their days giving rides to tourists and their nights chained or hobbled.
But today, they roam freely - walking, foraging and engaged in other elephant activities - in the forests of Yok Don National Park , a 115,000 hectare preserve in Vietnam. And at night, they are safe and secure at the Animals Asia Elephant Conservation Center.
BunKon and H'Plu have joined with two other rescued elephants, 9 year old Jun and 3 year old Gold. They'll protect, nurture and love the two youngsters and provide them with an opportunity to be in a more normal elephant social grouping.
We want to make sure BunKon and H'Plu never return to the tourist trade, are never separated from Jun and Gold, and we're asking you to help make that happen!
This amazing change in BunKon's and H'Plu's lives is the result of a rental agreement with their custodians. By providing some compensation for their lost family income, BunKon and H'Plu can be free of the tourism industry. We think it's a great deal, so we're trying to cover half of the cost, while our colleagues cover the rest.
The cost of keeping BunKon out of the tourism trade is just $16.50 US ($22 Cdn) per day. That's a small amount to completely change BunKon's life.
If you want to help BunKon in the forest, please make a contribution today.
Thank you for helping BunKon (and by doing so, her companions as well)!
