Hi My name is Carole and I am fundraising for Brian Deeg
A Lifelong Fight He Didn't Know He Was In
For most of his life, Brian lived as a healthy, active family and community man. He doesn’t drink, is quick to help others and takes care of himself. What he didn't know was that he was born with a Kidney Disease that had remained "silent" for years.
For the past year and a bit, Brian had actively been striving to manage kidney disease while remaining positive and upbeat. The question was always why did he slowly decline into stage 3 then slide quickly into 4 ckd, then suddenly and rapidly into renal failure (ckd stage 5)
The Unexpected Crisis
For Brian everything changed in an instant. Due to a severe, unforeseen allergy to a medication, his kidney function—already vulnerable from birth but being managed with a strict diet and loads of medications—dropped at an alarming rate.
A biopsy later revealed the devastating truth: a combination of existing scar tissue, allergy ridden tissue, and an underlying genetic condition. We went from a manageable life to a full-blown medical crisis overnight. Brian is now in the fight of his life, facing the immediate need for a kidney transplant and the reality of being unable to work while he prepares for the road ahead.
A Disciplined Fighter
Even in the face of this shock, Brian’s strength has been incredible. He follows a complex renal diet and does everything his medical team asks to stay stable. He is doing the hard work to stay here for us, but the financial burden is heavy.
A Heart with No Boundaries
If you know Brian, you know his love doesn’t follow a family tree. He is a man who loves deeply and unconditionally, showing up for his children and grandchild with a devotion that has nothing to do with biology and everything to do with his character. He is the heart of our family, and the man who is always there for us.
A Hero for His Community
Beyond our front door, Brian has spent years serving as a volunteer firefighter. He is the person who runs toward danger to help neighbors in their darkest moments. Now, after a lifetime of being the one to provide help, he is in a position where he needs to receive it.
How Your Support Helps
A kidney transplant is a lifesaver, but the costs beyond the surgery are overwhelming. Your donations will go directly toward:
Medical Preparations: Supporting his ability to attend all the specialists appointments, testing, and out of town travels
Emergency Transplant Travel: Ensuring he can get to the transplant center the moment "The Call" comes.
Relocation for Recovery: Covering the 4–6 weeks he must live near the hospital post-surgery for daily monitoring.
Nourishing a Fighter: Supporting the cost of the strict, specialized renal diet and the changes to come when on dialysis that he must follow to protect his remaining function and prepare his body for a new organ.
Every share and every dollar brings this hero, partner, father, and grandpa one step closer to the healthy future he deserves. Thank you for standing with us
