Hi, my name is John Stavrou, and I’m fundraising for my best mate and the young man I care for, Brad Sparrow.

Brad is 18 years old and one of the most lovable Aussies you’ll ever meet. Everyone who knows him calls out “Brad! How are you, mate?” because he’s impossible to forget — always joking, always smiling.

Brad was born with severe scoliosis and other lifelong medical challenges. He’s already undergone four major spinal surgeries, and now his weight and spinal pressure are putting his organs at risk of failure. Doctors say that unless he can reduce to 100 kg, his life will be cut drastically short.

There’s a prescribed medication that can take the pressure off his spine, improve his mobility, and extend his life by up to 20 years — but it isn’t covered by the NDIS, Medicare, or any government program.

It costs $750 a month for 24 months — $19,000 in total.

Brad’s family are loving, hardworking battlers who provide 24/7 care, but this expense is beyond their reach.
