I am Barbara Keener, 76 years old today. Life is supposed to get easier, but it is more difficult than ever. My only son and three cats died in 2023. I lived in my apartment for 20 years and had to move in December 2024. My lease is up at the end of March at my current apartment, and the rent will increase by $200.00 more. My unemployment ended 3 weeks ago and I get a small social security check. I desperately need your help so I will not become homeless. I applied for six full-time jobs, and I am limited on the types of jobs due to severe lymphedema in my legs and my age. I applied to several apartments that go by one's income, but I do not have any money to pay to move. My biggest fears are losing my beloved emotional support cat and being put out on the street.
