Hello, I'm George Malik. I take care of my 84-year-old aunt, Anne Malik. We live together in South Lyon, Michigan.

We're trying to keep Aunt Annie living independently, and she's lived in our condominium for over 25 years now, but it's not easy. Between my paycheck from the State of Michigan for being Aunt Annie's caregiver, and her Social Security check, we're just able to cover the bills that come in each month.

We are not able to cover the extra expense that is paying our yearly fall property taxes, which run at approximately $1,500 every September 1st, since my mom died 6 years ago, and our financial situation became a subsistence one.

As such, we've done our best to try and pay the tax bill by paying in installments, asking relatives to help us, and, last year, by melting down Aunt Annie's jewelry to pay the fall property tax bill.

This year, we're out of options in terms of finding secondary sources to help us pay our fall property tax bill, and we're scared.

We have no savings to lean upon without mom's extra income, and on a good month, we "break even" in terms of the money that comes in equaling the money that has to go out the door.

So we're starting a GoFundMe to ask for help from our wider circle of friends. We're trying to raise enough money to pay our fall tax bill (and a little more to keep us afloat after a really bad April and May in terms of unexpected expenses).
