Keep August in School
Donation protected
Hi! I made this gofundme on behalf of my friend, Taryn, a single mother of a smart, kind, and beautiful neurodivergent child. She is trying to provide the best life for her son, August (8) who attends a special private school that has drastically improved the quality of his sweet life. Unfortunately he is in danger of losing his spot.
We are seeking $1,000 for tuition costs.
August's mother works a full time job and picks up extra shifts but is not able to satisfy the full cost of tuition this term. She is a dedicated mother who has made professional, social, and residential changes all to improve the quality of life for her son.
Below is taken from a Facebook post where Taryn (mother) is announcing that she will have a tea and art sale to raise funds for August which goes into detail about August's unique journey:
"Most of you know, but for those who don’t, August (son, 8) goes to a school only for neurodivergent children. This special education has changed my son’s life. In second grade August got suspended for the first time. It was devastating for him- he got suspended because he would not stop crying and clinging to his teachers body. She was a substitute and didn’t know about his sensory issues.
By the end of second grade my son quit smiling. He would wear his hair over his eyes and make digital diary videos with the moniker “Shadow” referring to himself in a rap-paced dialogue, “it’s me again the bad kid-sad-kid-can’t-do-anything-right-kid- misunderstood-kid-lonely-kid. He wanted to drop out of school- yes we are talking about at 7. He called himself stupid and said he would never learn to read.
Fast forward only 2 years- in less than 2 years of being in private school my son dreams of being an engineer, going to App-state, and “working with electricity, hehe.” He says maniacally, as he rubs his palms together.
This school means the world to us. But it is expensive.
I have made a lot of life decisions in the last two years I am very proud of to give my son the life we have- I’ve changed careers, sacrificing a lot of freedom, quit drinking, and moved us to a quiet side of town. So I want to know, this idea of reaching out to my community doesn’t come lightly. I am willing to put in the work for my son ..."
Taryn is an amazing mom and donating to her cause will drastically help a little boy have accessibility to a higher quality life!!
