I'm Ash. I'm a trans woman and I'm at immediate risk of homelessness by March 16th. I've been searching for jobs for months and getting no further than a first interview when not outright getting denied for jobs where I have several years of relevant experience. Short story is I need funds to stay sheltered as I try to find work, and to stabilize a bit / recover the self-employment I had going on before everything was up-ended. Back in October I did a season of haunt work but since then have been left relying mostly on dog sitting, which itself has suffered a major loss recently when my only frequent client was furloughed.
Back in 2020 I started a design / merch operation while I was working as a live-in caretaker for a chronically ill person. However I wasn't allowed to get other work or vend in public due to their health concerns and wasn't able to save up for moving out. For a long time I expressed concern that I wasn't going to be able to when the time came, and I was repeatedly that wasn't going to be an issue as my financial situation got worse and operations fell apart. Then I was forced to move out with no savings. I got solid work soon and temporary shelter after that but was fired after being sent home for being too sick and calling out sick too many times. Later figured out the house had a major water leak and black mold problem, and was evicted when this was reported to the landlord.
After that I lived in a rental car I was also working out of for several months which did a lot of physical and mental damage I'm still recovering from. I ended up having to return the car when I got a new ID (can't use a temporary ID while driving one) and since then have been doing gigs while drifting from hostel to hostel as they get shut down. Latest one that now is the reason I'm immediately at risk for homelessness now was an unfortunate repeat of the situation where I had to leave a spot after asking a landlord to do something about black mold.
