Help Me Stay in School — $5,000 Short Due to Scholarship Cut

Hi, my name is Angelica, and I’m reaching out because I need help.

This fall, I was supposed to start my new journey at Grand Valley State University and move into my dorm to begin classes. I’ve worked hard, applied for aid, and received scholarships — including one that was helping me pay for school. But recently, due to federal funding cuts, a major scholarship I was counting on was reduced, and now I’ve been hit with an unexpected $5,000 bill.

Because of this, I can’t move into my dorm or start school unless the balance is paid before move-in, which is less than a month away. I’ve tried every option I can think of — financial aid, talking with the school, budgeting everything I can — but I’m still coming up short.

It breaks my heart to have come this far only to risk losing my chance to attend college because of something out of my control. I’ve always dreamed of earning my degree and building a better future not just for myself, but for my family too. I just need this last push to make it there.
