Help a Single Mom Stay with Her Son — Facing Deportation After 37 Years in the U.S.

My name is Giselle and I never thought I’d be in this position — asking for help, publicly. But as a mother, I will do anything to keep my son safe and to stay by his side. I am a 42-year-old single mom to a beautiful 13-year-old boy with a disability. We’ve been through a lot together, and now we are facing the unimaginable: I am at risk of being deported to Haiti — a country I haven’t seen since I was 5 years old.

I came to the United States as a child. This is the only home I have ever known. I went to school here, I’ve worked hard my entire life , paid taxes, and never been in trouble with the law. I’ve always tried to do everything the right way — applying, filing, hoping for a path to legal status. But the system is complicated and expensive, and every step forward has seemed to bring new obstacles.

Now, I urgently need legal help to fight this deportation and stay in the only home I’ve ever known — with the only family I have: my son.

My son needs me. He has never been without me, and I am his sole caregiver. I have no family or support in Haiti. Everything — my community, my friends, my life — is here. Being forced to leave would not only tear our family apart, but it would also put us both in an impossible, dangerous situation.

That’s why I’m asking for help — something I’ve never done like this before. I’m trying to raise funds to cover the legal fees for an immigration attorney who can help me fight to stay here and build a stable future for my son.
