From Access to Opportunity
For over a decade, ACCESS:VFX has worked to make the visual effects and animation industries more diverse, inclusive, transparent and accessible.
At the heart of that mission is our global e-mentoring programme. A free, year-round mentoring network connecting aspiring talent with working professionals across the industry. Today, that network supports close to 4,000 members across the world.
Students. Career changers. Freelancers. Parents returning to work. First-generation creatives. People without industry connections. People without financial safety nets. For many of them, this programme isn’t a nice to have. It’s the difference between feeling shut out, and feeling seen.
Why This Matters
The creative industries can feel opaque and intimidating.
- Who do you ask?
- How do you get feedback?
- What route should you take?
- Is there even space for someone like you?
Mentorship answers those questions in a human way.
- It builds confidence.
- It demystifies the industry.
- It helps people avoid costly missteps.
- It creates belonging before someone even lands their first job.
And it works.
We’ve seen mentees go on to become runners, coordinators, artists, supervisors and studio leaders. We’ve seen mentors discover renewed purpose and leadership confidence. We’ve seen global friendships form across continents.
This is what access looks like in practice.
Why We’re Raising £10,000
ACCESS:VFX is a non-profit organisation.
We deliberately keep our mentoring programme free so that cost is never a barrier. But running a global network at this scale requires:
- Platform hosting and maintenance
- Safeguarding and moderation
- Volunteer coordination
- Events and networking sessions
- Admin and infrastructure support
The £10,000 target will help us sustain and protect this programme for the year ahead, ensuring thousands of people can continue to access support regardless of background or geography.
A Personal Note
As Founder of ACCESS:VFX, I’ve seen first-hand how transformative mentoring can be, not just for careers, but for confidence, identity and community. This programme is the lifeblood of what we do.
If you’ve ever benefited from mentorship, worked in VFX or animation, care about social mobility, or believe creative industries should reflect the world around us, we’d be incredibly grateful for your support.
Let’s turn access into opportunity.
Thank you.
