Support a Young Interabled Couple in Crisis

Hello, I'm Shannen, and I'm reaching out on behalf of my husband, Jonas, and myself through this GoFundMe fundraiser because we are facing homelessness. I have been using a wheelchair since I was 15 years old due to Friedreich's Ataxia, a rare progressive neuromuscular disorder. Additionally, I have scoliosis and a heart condition. 

Despite being on the Cork Housing list for three years with medical priority, we have been unable to find suitable accommodation that meets my needs. We exhausted our savings on a private rental that didn't meet my needs, and Jonas, my husband and sole carer, can't work due to his responsibilities, limiting our income. We find ourselves in emergency accommodation in Cobh, which is completely unsuitable for a wheelchair user. 

Adding to our challenges, Jonas, who has just obtained his PhD, has been unable to pursue his career due to the demands of caring for me full-time. The strain of our situation has taken a toll on both of us, impacting our happiness and sense of security.
