Keep a Working Mom in Nursing School

Hi everyone,

My name is Ashley, I’m a proud single mother of two incredible boys. I’m currently enrolled in the nursing program at Chamberlain University and have just 1 year and 5 months left before I complete my journey and officially obtain my BSN.

Balancing full-time work, school, and raising my sons on my own has been one of the hardest but most rewarding experiences of my life. I’ve made it this far with determination, late nights, early mornings, and a whole lot of faith. But now I’m at a critical point in my journey where I have ran out of pell funding and loans are no longer covering my full tuition I am looking to rise $20,000 to continue the program.

As a single mom, every day is a balancing act working long hours to provide for my kids, making sure the boys are cared for, and dedicating every spare moment to studying and clinicals. There have been many times I’ve had to choose between gas for school and groceries, between paying bills and buying my nursing supplies. Still, I keep going because I know the future I’m building is worth every sacrifice.

Becoming a nurse isn’t just a dream it’s my calling. I want to be the person who shows up when others are hurting, scared, or vulnerable. I want to care for people the way I would want someone to care for my family. And most importantly, I want my sons to grow up watching their mom fight through every obstacle and come out stronger.
