Hey, folks. I expect if you're reading this you probably know who I am and what's going on, but in case you wandered here by chance, here's the story!

My mother has Alzheimer's Disease. We were managing pretty well, thanks to my stepfather... Then he suddenly and rapidly started going blind two months ago. My stepfather is a veteran and had a solid job with decent insurance, so we figured between the VA and private insurance things would sort out. To date, they have not, and he is now nearly blind. This means he can't currently work.

With no income of their own, I've been doing my best to support them while my stepfather tries to get his eyes fixed and attempts to get disability for the mean time.  Unfortunately, the bureaucracy to get help has been... much more frustrating to navigate and much longer to get going than anticipated. They are now very behind in rent and have been given notice to pay or be evicted. I've given them every saved up dime I have at this point and as much of my paycheck as I can afford (much *more,* actually, but they're my folks - how could I not?)

So, at the request of my friends, here stands a GoFundMe to get their back rent paid and help cover my stepfather's additional medical costs for his eyes. Once my stepfather can see again (or once we know his eyesight is gone forever), he'll either be back at work or looking for something someone with his new disability can do, but in the mean time things are dire. So help out a wonderful woman with Alzheimer's and a war vet going blind and help me keep them warm and safe. 

Cost-wise, the campaign goal is two months of rent. I *have* to believe my stepfather will be back to work or finally able to get help other ways by then. I've got the rest of their monthly bills covered, but if there's anything leftover because the process moves more quickly for him than it has previously, anything left over will go towards his medical bills and only his medical bills.
